Everyone should have a mission, a purpose. I knew I wanted to help people, and so I thought what would be the best way for me to help society?
Well I’ve been coding for years, and my interest in it has never died. In fact, it’s what I do every day for 8-10 hours a day. But how in the world could this help anyone?
The answer turned out to be pretty simple. Keeping up with the current events, I have found some areas of opportunity in education. The mainstream path to becoming a software developer today is not straightforward.
For starters, the courses that are taught at universities are mostly for context. The actual things you need to learn are taught at a minimal level. I know this from experience. The things I learned in school I don’t even use anymore.
Thankfully there is an alternative. Several companies have stood up what they call bootcamps. These bootcamps are exactly what they sound like – an intense, information overload trench of coding! They span from about 1 week to over 6 months. You basically get in an conference room with a bunch of other boots, and its classroom mode for 8 hours a day. But you also have homework and the kicker is – they run about $10,000 – $21,000 ?
You do learn to code, but coding is not the only thing that you do in a job. There’s architecture design, continuous integration & continuous deployment practices, a thing called corporate etiquette, agile workflow processes, and of course you might be wearing multiple hats.
This is where I found an opportunity. All of the strategies mentioned to get into the industry prepare you for a job. I created the CodeNow program to excel in price, breadth of content, personalized 1:1 coaching and speed.
Now writing good code will always be what’s most important. Going down the right rabbit holes is crucial though. Once you learn how to create frontend components, build a REST API and persist to a database, it’s all the same pattern thereafter. Of course there’s more to it than that but at a high level, those are the basics.
CodeNow cuts the barrier of entry down a couple thousand dollars, increases the value of content provided by an estimated 50% – 75% and provides a 1:1 experience which no bootcamp or university offer.
I found that this is a the quickest way for me to fulfill my purpose – by helping others learn how to code. Whether you’re a complete stranger to coding and looking for a new job, want to build your own app, or own a business and want to improve inefficiencies – the well-rounded CodeNow program will enable you to create an effective solution to your problems.
